July is simply a wonderful time here in Oregon. This was our second trip to the Sauvie Island Lavender Farm when we had more family in town visiting from Texas. My step mom is a very talented photographer so, of course we took some photos at the lavender farm. The ones of me (blonde) were shot by her (www.DariaRatliff.com) and edited by me. The rest were shot by me as we played around the field. I can’t wait to go back this year, but it might be a little different seeing as I’ll have a newborn in tow. I wish I could transmit the SMELL of this gorgeous place through the internet. Blooming lavender plants have a sweet clean mild floral and almost vanilla aroma (to me at least). You hear a faint hum of all the bees pollinating the blooms. Typically I’d slightly freak out and not want to be near the bees, but they stick to their business and we stick to ours. Thankfully we had no stings either time we were there.
I don’t typically love being on the other side of the camera, but I’m so grateful for these lovely images by Daria. It was also super bright midday sun when we took these and Daria’s sweet mom helped hold a big diffuser during most of the shots! Thanks, Sandra!
